Cahua hydropower plant

Cahua is a run-of-river hydropower plant that generates power by turbining the water of the Pativilca river. As a result of the automation of the plant in 2014, the plant is remotely operated from the dispatch centre in Lima. 

An overhaul of the plant was undertaken in 2013 - 2014 to reduce the rate of failure and therefore operating cost. The condition of major equipment was assessed to increase their efficacy and efficiency.

The annual energy production from Cahua hydropower plant is about 300 GWh, enough to power approximately 190,000个家庭.
